What does Michel Clouscard's life tell us about his thought, and why does this long-ignored thought impose itself today?

The session presents the book "Avec Clouscard," written by a close associate of the philosopher who is present in the room. Dominique Pagani starts from an observation: Clouscard, ignored during his lifetime, is now recognized for having forged the concept of liberal-libertarianism and for having predicted the crisis. He then summarizes his periodization, which opposes the Trente Glorieuses to the "forty shameful years," and the shift from a capitalism of saving to a permissive capitalism, born from the overproduction crisis of the 1930s. Starting from questions from the audience, he explains the central thesis of L'Être et le code, according to which the code precedes being, then class unconscious. He also addresses the recuperation of Clouscard by the far right, which he explains by binary thinking, and defines the concept of the mondain (fashionable/worldly). Throughout the session, he draws a parallel between Clouscard's position and Rousseau's toward the salons. He ends with an analysis of music related to praxis and with reading recommendations.
