How is the exterior, the landscape, interiorized by speech and music, and how does landscape differ from nature?

Dominique Pagani starts from the fire at Notre-Dame. He connects it to the theme of the series, nature or landscape: the timber frame nicknamed "the forest," Hölderlin's word to the carpenter, the Gothic vault compared to trees, and the birth of polyphony at the Notre-Dame school. He then sets out the thread of the session, the interiorization of the exterior, and shows it in the first of Rilke's Sonnets to Orpheus, in Rimbaud's "Aube," then in the spring walk in Jean Paul's Siebenkäs, whose "cinematic" notations he highlights. In the slow movement of Schubert's Ninth Symphony, he brings out a landscape: the march alternates between interiority and panorama, planes are staggered, and a horn call attempts to step out of time. He concludes that the rural landscape is a nature transformed by praxis and that landscape belongs to the concept of surface: a relation and not a substance, a reflection that points toward something else, which is what the word "aesthetic" designates.
