How should the "world after" the Covid crisis be judged, and under what conditions can one still speak of progress?

The session is a dialogue with an interlocutor. It starts from the observation that the crisis goes beyond the sanitary domain and that the word "conspiracist" now serves to forbid any opposition. Dominique Pagani then shows that the obsession with health rests on unconscious fantasies, described by Freud, and that it was prepared by forty years of environmentalism, which made it possible to bring an unruly people to heel. Asked about progress, he starts from the prefix "pro": judging a progress requires a purpose. He establishes that only technical progress is measurable, that the means is axiologically neutral, and that social devastation stems from the mode of production, not from the machine. He arrives at the "accursed triangle" (man, the universal, progress), discredited since the 1970s, and defends the universal and class struggle against identity quarrels.
