Dominique Pagani approaches Corsica mainly through Rousseau. He often returns to the draft constitution requested by Paoli's Republic, which he describes as the first to put the Enlightenment into practice, and to the correspondence with Buttafoco, in which Rousseau asks to come and die on the island12.
