What does the dominant ecological discourse cover, and why must it be criticized from a Marxist standpoint?

The session presents the book Les Veaux et les Choses. Dominique Pagani delivers an oral preface to it. He calls it courageous in the face of the violence of environmentalist ideology, then proposes to treat environmental problems on three levels: the scientific approach, the symbolic order (the fantasies this discourse unwittingly expresses), and a democratic, planned ecology that would define priorities. The author then sets out the book's thesis: ecology is the ideology by which the bourgeoisie secures its domination over the middle strata, and the current crisis is a deliberate halt of circulation, not a crisis of overproduction. A participant presents the structure of the book. Finally, Dominique Pagani shows that circulation is production continued, links leftism to the interests of the Atlantic Alliance, and argues that the word "ecology" removes man and exploitation from political debate.
