How did Rousseau, first of all, unite praxis and psyche, and how does this synthesis continue in revolutionary thought, from Hegel and Marx to Clouscard?

In this interview, Dominique Pagani starts from a thesis of Clouscard's: Rousseau is the first, and until Clouscard the only one, to have united praxis and psyche, the author of the Social Contract being also the author of the Reveries and of La Nouvelle Héloïse. He relates this synthesis to the Marxian articulation between infrastructures and superstructures, and to the temporal lag that separates them. He then reads Émile and chapter 8 of book I of the Social Contract to show that Rousseau thinks the passage from the state of nature to civil society, and therefore that the psyche itself is a creation of praxis. He comes to the tool, distinct from the animal instrument and at the root of progress: Hegel makes it one of the three powers of spirit, Marx preserves its dialectic, and Lenin rediscovers it in the Great Logic. He concludes on the dialectic of master and slave, on the critique of neo-Kantianism, of Heidegger and of ecologism, and on the rejection of degrowth.
