What can we expect from speaking about music, and why deprive young people of music they are being denied?
Dominique Pagani starts from the derisory character of expressing the content of music in words, which he likens to the saying "there's no arguing about taste." He proposes a "positive escape," which does not flee from reality but seeks to find it, since at the outset we are caught up in the buzzing life of everyday. He takes up the old division between arts of space, where all parts are simultaneous, and arts of time, such as music. He figures this everyday time as a straight, short corridor leading to death. Each piece of music listened to becomes a side door opened in that corridor. He arrives at a stake he considers more than political: restoring to young people the musical heritage that is being taken from them.
